What Is Frankenstein About?
In this spine-chilling variation of the classic by Mary Shelley, Victor Frankenstein (Oscar Isaac) is a researcher who is obsessed with the idea to overcome death. His quest to be like God makes him use dead bodies to construct a life out of them, but when it comes to life, he feels sickened by what he has created, and he gets rid of it.
The monster is abandoned to find his way in the world that is scared and ignorant of him, and this is the start of a tragic journey that studies loneliness, vengeance, and the true meaning of a human being.
This adaptation has been called a love, rejection and identity story that is more tragic than terrifying by Del Toro. It is bound to be gorgeous, gothic in its production design, and it is full of emotional resonance only del Toro is capable of.
